Two Quiet Neighborhoods in Manhattan That Are Worth Settling Down in

The title of this post is an unintentional oxymoron. It doesn’t make any sense. Why would anyone move to Manhattan to find a quiet neighborhood? You can ask anyone who knows a little bit about New York what the noisiest city is and they will tell you unequivocally that it’s Manhattan. That will happen for a few reasons; one is because when people visit Manhattan, they are usually looking to party at the swankiest clubs, eat at the trendiest restaurants, or attend the glitziest shows. Manhattan has hotspots that are inherently noisy and always bustling with visitors from near and far. The second reason is that people often move to Manhattan to be closer to work and let’s face it these popular sections of Manhattan are bustling with business and far from being quiet. NYC represents several sections that are famous for their noise-ridden streets such as Time Square, the East Village, and Midtown east and west.

The question is why anyone in search of a quiet neighborhood would want to settle down in Manhattan?  The answer is they wouldn’t unless they knew about these oases that allow you to think and sleep without a sea of noise. If you want to live someplace quiet that’s set away from the bustling traffic, horns, construction, and nightlife, these are two areas of Manhattan are worth looking into.

The Upper East Side

Nestled somewhere betwixt 60th and 97th streets, the upper east side is home to the East River, a plethora of boutique shops, upscale eateries, and several renowned museums strategically aligned all the way up into the lower 100’s. Yes, there’s something everyone along the museum mile. Upper east side residents can take to 5th Avenue to enjoy such historical sites as The Museum of the City of New York 105th street, The Jewish Museum between 92nd and 93rd streets, Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum at 91st street, The Met at 82nd and the Guggenheim at 88th.

The Upper West Side

If the upper east side is not for you or you prefer the west side of Manhattan, there’s always the brownstone laden, quiet side-streets of the upper west side. Like the upper east side, this neighborhood has no shortage of historical places to visit. Residents who live in this area are near the American Museum of Natural History, the Beacon Theatre and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. And don’t forget the eateries and shopping too. Just like the upper east side, there is nightlife, but it’s not as noisy and dense as the neighborhoods below 59th street. Regardless of which side of NYC you choose, they are both famous for diverse cultures, New York elegance, mobility, health and recreation, and extreme luxury living among tree-lined streets and well-kept gardens.

To conclude

Whatever your preference, you’ll need a plan for how to pick up your life and get there. Don’t leave it to chance by trying to do it yourself, instead hire professional movers who have the specific experience in moving families, businesses, and individuals to and from New York City. How will movers navigate the streets of Manhattan to get your belongings from point A to point B?  You can leave that to the expert team of movers at Roadway Moving. We’ll help you celebrate your new space by helping you fill it with the things you love. Our local moving company offers a full range of commercial and residential moving services for local or long-distance moves.
