Moving Companies 101: How Many Movers Should I Hire?

Hiring a moving company can make your move extra convenient for you. After all, they have the skills and the training necessary to make sure you get all your logistical concerns met with as much convenience as possible. However, if you’re hiring moving companies for the first time, you might be wondering about the specifics of the services you’d be getting from them. Aside from the fact that it’s a house move, what else should you consider? For instance, do you have to consider just how many movers should you hire?

If you’re set on hiring a moving company, you might have some questions in your mind. Perhaps most important of these questions would be: just how many movers should you hire, exactly? Is there even a number? Here are some useful insights:

  1. Numbers of movers depend on the size of the home. If you plan on hiring a move you’ll rely on for your house move, you should remember that the number of movers will really depend on how large your home will be. A professional mover may be able to do all the things that need to be done alone thanks to their training, but having more of them will enable them to work on loading your things to their moving truck much faster, especially for a long-distance move. In essence, for a 400 to 650 sq. ft. home, two movers would need two hours each for solely loading and unloading your belongings. And they may need four hours for a full-service move.
  2. Numbers of movers depend on the things that need to move. Another way to identify the number of movers you’ll need from the moving company would be to identify the kind of things you’d want them to move in the first place. An inventory comes handy here, as you’ll be able to identify both the small and large objects for movers to load and unload in their truck. It’s likely that more movers will be needed for numerous things and if there are heavy things around the house, such as furniture and large appliances.
  3. Numbers of movers depend on the layout of the home. Another thing to consider when deciding on the number of movers to hire would be the layout of the homes in general. If your home has flights of stairs or narrow corridors, more movers will likely be needed in order to make sure none of your belongings get damaged and they load and unload your things properly. Moreover, the more time it takes for them to load the truck due to the layout of the home, it’s likely that more movers will be needed in the process.
  4. Numbers of movers depend on the time you have. If you’re in a hurry to move away from your bedroom home, it’s important to understand that you may need to hire more movers to have more people moving in the house. This might not save you money on the short-term, but being able to move much faster and settle in your new home much easier would be worth the while. If you need to be moving immediately because new owners of your old home would be coming soon, then you may need multiple movers.

Hiring On Numbers: The Perfect Moving Team

With the above tips in mind, it’s important to remember that hiring a moving company isn’t just about asking them to do a particular house move service for you. In fact, a lot of perfect house moves have to do with being able to coordinate your logistics properly with the moving company you’ve hired for your house move. Moreover, if you manage to get just the right number of movers for your moving team, then you might be able to accomplish your house move without having to worry about any unforeseen mishaps.
