Moving Tips: Where to Find Boxes and Supplies to Move

When it’s time to move, you have to consider where you’re going to get boxes and other moving supplies. Especially if you’re moving to a new state, you have to look at just how sturdy the boxes are. Otherwise, you run the risk of your belongings becoming damaged during the move.

Moving Tips

Used Boxes

Many people turn to grocery stores and other locations to get used boxes. One of the best moving practices to implement is to never use used boxes. You don’t know what kind of abuse they went through, such as being wet and dried, refrigerated, or how many times they have already been recycled.

If you were to put your belongings in a used box, no matter how much tape you use, it could easily collapse.

New Boxes

If you go to a moving store, you could purchase new boxes. If you are looking for moving tips, the store will give you some – and sell you some different packing supplies to help with moving dishes, glasses, and other breakable items.

The main problem with buying boxes is that it’s an expense. You have the cost of boxes, tape, and packing materials inside the box. Plus, the boxes are then broken down and tossed, which isn’t a very eco-friendly practice when you think about it.

Plastic Bins

If you want to have a greener move, you can look at RedBins, which are plastic bins that are sturdier than cardboard boxes. They’re reusable, stackable, and come in three different sizes. This allows you to get as many as you need to pack up all of your belongings. Plus, if some items are going into storage before they make it into your home, it’s better to have plastic as opposed to cardboard.

The storage facility might not be waterproof. This means that rainwater could easily damage the cardboard and therefore damage whatever you have inside.

Moving Tips

When you get ready to move, you should do a complete inventory of your home. Determine what you need to pack. Shorter moves don’t involve such intensive packing, but you still need to use quality boxes or containers.

Choose different sizes of boxes or bins to ensure that whatever you’re packing fits comfortably. If there’s too much room, then items could break during transport.

In the end, you need to take the time to find the right boxes and supplies so you’re not spending too much money or wasting resources.
